Our first summer at the Elk River Guest Ranch brought us a wealth of friends and exciting adventures. But now that Scott and I aren't what's so "new" anymore, we wanted to let you know what will be fresh and improved for your guest ranch experience this coming summer (Countdown is at 20 days!).
New lodge! Scott and I have moved next door into a different cabin, and the main building as you drive through the archway will be where you'll check-in (office right in front door), dine, and lounge. The space is artfully decorated with a mixture of old cowboy photos and gorgeous photographs of local mountains, lakes and hay meadows. You can relax on one of the leather sofas with a good book or magazine, warm yourself in the mornings by the wood stove with your coffee mug in hand, or step out onto the patio in the evening to gaze at the aspen glow on the Zirkels.
New patio! On the Zirkel side of the lodge and nearest the hot tub, the lodge experience will also be enhanced by an outdoor dining and hang-out area. The arrival of the lodge and patio will allow us to shift the saloon's focus to an adventure center where we'll have western movie nights, storage for our overnight camp trip gear, bikes, fishing equipment and kayaking supplies.
Kayaking on Pearl Lake! We've introduced this aspect of our stays to our followers on facebook, and we truly think you'll enjoy the addition of another non-horseback riding activity where you can still experience the natural world. Envision yourself gliding along a clear, mountain lake, breathing the fresh air above the water and soaking in plenty of Vitamin D.
Improved amenities! In addition to daily housekeeping, the cabin experience is getting an upgrade. Slip into your ERGR bath robe in the evenings, try out our Aveda (Rosemary Mint collection) bath products, and enjoy a freshening up of cabin decorations. We feel it's extremely important that you not only have a great time on your horse but that you get that same level of customer service and comfort when you step back into your cabins.
Improved dining experience! One of the best ways to get an incredible dining experience for our guests is to make the chef happy. So, we've put some time, money and love into making our kitchen a more functional and improved experience for our chef. With upgrades to a commercial kitchen range, added kitchen space and a face lift, the kitchen may very well be something we'll add into our tour of the ranch! :)
There are many other updates that have become a part of our yearly routine to improve (lawn, fencing, pasture maintenance, trails, etc.) that I won't delve into, but it's important for us to let you know that we put time and effort into your stay all year round, not simply a few weeks before you arrive. We don't say it to boast about how great we are but instead to tell you that you are the most valuable aspect of what we do. And, it's our goal to continually improve ourselves and the ranch in order to make this one of the best experiences of your life. Because day after day, you enrich ours.
