The guests and staff all know Benjamin to be a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He retrieves for you, plays tug-of-war, occasionally acts as a Peeping Tom through the saloon windows, and runs around in circles when anyone under the age of 16 is around.
But how, you might ask, did Benjamin earn such a renowned award as the 2015 Ranch Dog of the Year? Similar to Mad-dog Madly in 2014, he happened to be in the right place at the right time.
But one thing Benjamin wanted me to mention is that even though he lives very close to Steamboat Springs, which happens to be "Dog Town USA," he isn't a city-type, has-to-go-everywhere-with-his-owner type of dog. He wants the world to know that he truly is a ranch dog having grown up in Ridgway, Colorado, known for being the Old West town in John Wayne's True Grit movie.
When it's time to go on an adventure with Bex or the guests, howl for the guests to come rustle up their grub, play some ball or frisbee (his favorite), or romp with the horses, Benjamin is always ready for action.
