Horseback Riding Adventures at the All-Inclusive, Colorado Guest Ranch
We don't just throw you in a line and tell you to hang on. Think learning, exploring, trotting, loping, sleeping a night under the stars with your horse nearby.
At the Elk River Guest Ranch, we want you to have a truly memorable horseback riding experience. One in which you feel, by the end of the week, that you've accomplished something. That you've grown closer and more connected with the massive being underneath you. We want you to learn, experience and grow.
That's why, as part of our horseback riding program, we require a horseback orientation before your first ride with us (don't worry, we aren't here to bore you by making you sit through a lecture). Instead, we teach and refresh at the beginning and continue throughout the week to give you tips on the trail so that your experience is comfortable, safe and full of adventure.
The beauty of it all? Our guest capacity is small. That means, you get a flexible, personalized experience to meet your vacation needs and wants.
Just north of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, our horseback rides (morning, afternoon, evening and all-day rides) lead you into the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest with gorgeous views of Big Agnes and Little Agnes, two of the most stunning peaks within the Zirkel Mountains. We have it all. Sweeping views, quaking aspens, a mountain lake, huge pines, open meadows, singletrack and old logging roads.
Weight limit: We have a 250lb horseback riding weight limit. This guideline exists for the health and safety of our horses and riders, therefore we cannot always guarantee a horse will be available for heavy riders. If a horse is available within our herd, we may restrict riders to level terrain and/or walking-only rides based on the rider’s weight and riding ability.
