One of the most rewarding winter projects for me (Becky) is building stuff. Because, let's face it, shoveling snow is not fun, much less, rewarding in an area like this where it continues for 6-7 months. I've been working on several tasks, building wood bed bases in our one-bedroom cabins and building a dining room extra-long sideboard for the lodge. The latter isn't finished yet as I still have to add the finishing coat and add hardware, but you can see the progress below.
We had a little time at the end of January to head to Mexico for a few days with our friends, Matt and Christy, and Scott got an opportunity in early February to zip over to Moab, Utah, for a couple of days to get in some mountain biking (picture below). It's a bit tough for me to shut my mind off from working mode, but taking a break helps me better understand what our own guests go through when it takes some time for them to decompress at the beginning of the week. In fact, I believe that's one of the 'icing on the cake' characteristics of a vacation here at Elk River Guest Ranch. It makes me happy to see someone embrace that opportunity to disconnect from their work and relax.
Looking Forward to Summer 2017
Besides building furniture, there are a number of other tasks we are working on here at the ranch that will affect our guest experience this coming summer. Here are a few that we're really excited about:
-Luxury pillows--we're thrilled to be offering a Pacific Coast pillow, much like what you'd find at the Ritz and Marriot hotels
-Lunch cookout at the ranch-we've discovered a cozy, shaded area out past the teepee where we'll be offering a new cookout during the week
-New Trading Post Items-ERGR mugs, new shirts, even buy an ERGR bathrobe!
-Honeymoon Package-A great excuse to get married with premium offerings...even breakfast in bed!
-More Trails to Explore-We still have more trails that have yet to be explored by our guests and some that only our fall guests had the chance to experience.
-Kayak Trailer and Van- Both of these give us more freedom to take guests to the rodeo, kayaking, airport and even sightseeing with additional room and comfort.
We can't wait to welcome you home to the ranch this coming summer! Book your adventure vacation by calling Bex at (970) 879-1946 or emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. The weeks from June 4th-September 23rd are filling up, so reserve your spot soon!
